Full Coverage: Parliament passes upper caste quota Bill
The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, 9 January, passed the 10 percent quota Bill after debate. The bill to provide 10 per cent quota in jobs and education to general category candidates who belong to economically weaker sections was tabled today in Rajya Sabha today. Bill has fixed an annual income of less than Rs 8 lakh and not owning more than five acres of agricultural land as criteria for defining economically weaker section in the general category for availing of the reservation in educational institutions and government jobs.
