TRP is a metric used to assess and measure the popularity of a television show. It is essentially a tool that allows the serial's production crew to gauge how popular the show is among viewers. Most television serials are now broadcast multiple times throughout the day. As a result, the TRP can be used to determine how many times the audience watches the serial throughout the day. Furthermore, it is the method through which the serial's or channel's marketing staff determines how much the audience or viewers enjoy a certain serial that is currently being shown.
