View In AppMumbai Police has summoned BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani for the second time regarding the alleged black marketing of tickets for English rock band Coldplay's *Music of the Spheres World Tour*, set to take place in January 2025. The latest summons was issued to Hemrajani and the company's technical head on Sunday, requiring them to appear before the investigating officer today to provide their statements. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police initially sent a summons on September 27, but the two failed to respond. The police investigation was initiated based on a complaint from advocate Amit Vyas, who accused the online ticketing platform of black marketing tickets for the British band's performances scheduled for January 19 to 21 next year. Vyas claimed that ticket prices, ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹12,500, were being sold at exorbitant rates by third-party sellers and scalpers. In response to the allegations, BookMyShow has distanced itself from the claims, condemned ticket scalping, and stated that it has no association with any resellers. The ticketing platform also filed a police complaint regarding the matter. Additionally, the company issued a warning to fans, advising them not to buy tickets from third-party sellers to avoid counterfeit tickets and potential financial loss. Coldplay is set to perform in India after an eight-year hiatus, with their last performance in 2016 at the Global Citizen Festival. While the announcement of the band's concert sparked excitement, the ticket purchasing process was met with frustration. Fans experienced server crashes and lengthy wait times, with approximately 13 million people attempting to access the website and app on the sale day. However, BookMyShow stated that a queue system was implemented to manage the high demand, causing only "minimal disruption" for fans. They also announced the addition of a third show to Coldplay's tour, which received a positive response.
