View In AppMaharashtra is set to vote today for its 288-member Assembly, with the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti alliance facing off against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Shiv Sena (UBT). A total of 4,136 candidates are in the fray, a significant increase from 3,239 in the 2019 elections. Among these, 2,086 are Independents, and 150 are rebel candidates. The BJP is contesting 149 seats, while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena is contesting 81, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s NCP is vying for 59. On the opposition side, Congress has fielded 101 candidates, followed by Shiv Sena (UBT) with 95 and NCP (SP) with 86. Key constituencies like Worli, Baramati, Vandre East, Nagpur South West, and Kopri-Pachpakhadi are witnessing high-stakes battles. Voting will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM, and the counting of votes is scheduled for November 23.
