Dalmia Bharat group wins historic bid to adopt iconic Red Fort

In a historic move, a private company Dalmia Bharat Limited has been ‘handed over’ the Red Fort, which is India’s one of the most important monuments.
"Dalmia Bharat Limited, Ministry of Tourism and Archaeological Survey of India sign MoU to take up the Red Fort, Delhi and Gandikota Fort, Kadapa. @KJAlphons @tourismgoi @DalmiaBharat Becomes the first corporate to sign a MOU under the Government’s “Adopt a Heritage” project," the company tweeted.

The sources say that the order has been to the Dalmia group for Rs 25 crore for 4 years. As per the order, the Dalmia group will take care of the maintenance and repair of the iconic monument; but ahead of August 15, when Prime Minister addresses the nation from Red Fort, the monument will be handed over to the security agencies. The same will be on by July 23.

The company will also have the right to do its branding inside the fort.

The major moves comes as an aftermath of “Adopt a Heritage” scheme of the government which was launched in September 2017.
