In a setback to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered Kolkata police Commissioner to appear before it on February 20 over allegation levied by Central Bureau of Investigation on Sardha Chit fund scam case. The court also ordered Rajeev Kumar to cooperate with the probe agency during investigation. SC has asked Kumar to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Shillong, Meghalaya as a neutral place.
The CBI also filed an affidavit against Rajeev Kumar in the apex court alleging that “there are several incriminating materials that were collected during the investigation by the CBI against the senior police officials as well as senior politicians”.
