UIDAI Guidelines on Aadhar Card Updates: Name Change Allowed Twice, Unlimited Address Updates

ABP Live   |  22 Jul 2024 09:58 AM (IST)

According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Aadhar card holders are permitted to change their names a maximum of two times. This means that individuals can only update their names twice during their lifetime. In contrast, gender and date of birth can each be modified only once throughout a person's lifetime. However, when it comes to the address on the Aadhar card, there is no limit on the number of changes that can be made. This flexibility allows individuals to update their address as many times as necessary. To change the address, valid documents such as an electricity bill, water bill, telephone bill, or rental agreement can be provided as evidence. The address update can be done online by the cardholder themselves or by visiting an Aadhar enrollment center for assistance. These guidelines ensure that the essential details on the Aadhar card remain consistent and secure, while also providing the necessary flexibility for address updates to accommodate changes in living arrangements.
