The passage of the historic triple talaq bill in Parliament was one of the major achievements of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had then said that a historic wrong done to Muslim women has been corrected and an "archaic and medieval practice" confined to the dustbin of history.
