New Delhi: World Emoji Day is celebrated on July 17, used as a day to promote the use of emojis which began in 2017. Emojis or what was known as emoticons are digital characters, expressions or now even objects used to express feelings while communicating digitally. Pictograms, logograms, ideograms, and smileys are other names for emojis. Jeremy Burge, the inventor of Emojipedia, an emoji reference website that lists the meaning and use of all emojis has been credited for the day.
At the beginning of the digital era, people used an array of symbols, numbers, and alphabets available on their limited keypads to show how they felt while communicating with people online. In 1982, computer scientist Scott Fahlmamn proposed symbols like :-) which changed the way we communicate digitally. In 1999, a Japanese programmer, invented emojis so that people in the country could receive heart-shaped emoticons through pagers, as it began to grow in the 2010s it became popular worldwide as more mobile operating systems added them.

- Melting face: A yellow smiley face melting into a puddle. It can be expressing extreme heat, embarrassment, dread, and even shame.
- Face Holding Back Tears: A yellow face with tears welling up at the bottom of its two large eyes. This can express a range of emotions including sadness, anger, embarrassment, admiration, and gratitude, according to emojipedia.
- Fire: A flame, is produced when something is on fire. Depicted as a red, orange, and yellow flickering flame. It is used for various metaphorical expressions related to fire, including the slang (“attractive”) and lit (“excellent”).
