A woman dressed in the colours of the Ukrainian flag caught everybody’s attention at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday as she poured fake blood on herself in solidarity with Ukraine. As per a report by the Telegraph the incident took place ahead of the premiere of the French film director Just Philippot’s film Acide on Sunday evening at the festival taking place in south of France.

The woman walked up on the red carpet in a yellow and blue dress with blue-heeled shoes, reached into her dress and pulled out two capsules of red substance which she poured over her head as she smiled for the cameras.

The woman was immediately removed from the red carpet where the fake blood was spilled and escorted down the stairs by security guards and away from the event.

The video of the incident has been widely shared on social media. A twitter user posted the video with caption, "At the Cannes Film Festival, a brave young lady dressed in the colors of Ukraine doused herself in fake blood."

The report stated that it was not immediately known why the demonstration took place at that screening.

The film festival has been critical of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as its director Thierry Frémaux said last week before the beginning of the event that he stood in solidarity with Ukraine.

French actress Catherine Deneuve also paid tribute to the victims of the war by reciting the poem Hope by Lesya Ukrainka, the Ukrainian poet.

Last year, a ban was put on Russian delegations or film companies connected to the Russian government which continued this year as well.
