The loss of a mother, whether it is for humans or animals is always painful. And for a kid losing his or her mother is even more devastating. A video of a baby langur weeping over its dead mother in Assam has surfaced online. Sharing the short clip on the micro-blogging site Twitter, the user wrote that the langur was killed by a speeding vehicle.

The video shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda shows the baby langur holding on to its dead mother and sobbing uncontrollably. It also looks perplexed, trying to wake the mother langur up but to no avail.

"This will haunt me for a long long time. A Golden langur was assassinated on the road in Assam. The baby is still in its arm not knowing what has befallen him. I am informed that all steps are being taken to save the baby," read the caption of the post shared by  Nanda on Twitter.

The video was shared by the IFS officer on Friday, and since then it has amassed 339.8k views and has left the  netizens teary-eyed.

"This is so sad! Why can't we care for the co-inhabitants of our planet? Poor Baby!", wrote one user.

"Can't bear to watch.... hope the baby recovers from the trauma ", wrote another user.

"No words would be enough to express this unfortunate and sorrowful scene. The mournful cry of the baby is heart wrenching", wrote a third.

"Assassinated ? Or hit by a vehicle? Be it as it may, incredibly sad. Hope the forest department takes good care of the baby", wrote a fourth.
