After two years of subdued new year celebrations due to the Covid pandemic, the country welcomed 2023 with great gusto. Food aggregators like Zomato saw a huge surge in orders on New Year’s Eve. Due to heavy rush, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goel himself decided to deliver orders.

To Goyal's surprise, his first delivery was for the Zomato office itself. Overall, he delivered as many as four orders, the Zomato CEO wrote sharing a photo of himself on Twitter.

“Going to deliver a couple of orders on my own right now. Should be back in an hour or so,” tweeted the Zomato co-founder on Saturday evening. “My first delivery brought me back to the zomato office. Lolwut!” his next tweet read.

After completing three more deliveries, including one to an elderly couple who was celebrating the New Year's eve with their grandchildren, Goyal finally returned to office.

He confirmed that the orders were high and there is "stress" in the office". Goel also said that in one day Zomata delivered more orders than it did in its first three years since being formed in 2008.

The Zomato CEO also said that the company's orders on December 31, 2022 were 45% higher than the previous year.

“45% up since the last year, so far!! Seem like we will hit crazy milestones today. IF we manage to stay alive. Nervous AF,” Goel wrote.
