The long-standing 'India' versus 'Bharat' debate has been reignited following the circulation of G20 dinner invitations by the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House), which referred to the nation's head as the 'President of Bharat' rather than the customary 'President of India.' This development has prompted a response from the Congress party, which expressed its concerns and views on the matter.
The Congress party revealed that invitations for a G20 dinner scheduled for September 9 have been issued in the name of the 'President of Bharat.' In response, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to Twitter to voice his thoughts. He suggested that this change might lead to an alteration in Article 1 of the Constitution, proposing, "Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States." Ramesh also expressed concern that this 'Union of States' is now facing challenges. He further asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could persist in "distorting history" and "dividing India, that is Bharat, that is a Union of States," but their resolve remains unshaken.
The use of 'President of Bharat' on the G20 dinner invites has sparked a trend on X (formerly Twitter), where 'President of Bharat' is gaining significant attention. Netizens have taken to social media to share witty responses and engage in discussions surrounding this latest development.
