A video of a woman assaulting a group of Indian-American women in Texas and hurling racial remarks has gone viral after which the Police arrested the accused on Wednesday. The woman attacked a group of four Indian-American women on Wednesday night in a parking lot in Dallas, reported news agency PTI. In the video, the woman can be seen identifying herself as a Mexican-American and expressing hate toward Indians. "I hate you Indian. All these Indians come to America because they want a better life," the woman can be heard saying in the video using obscene words repeatedly.

The viral video has sent shock waves among the Indian-American community across the United States. The woman has been identified as Esmeralda Upton of Plano. What exactly happened?

The person who posted the video stated that "this incident occurred in Dallas, Texas after my mom and her three friends went to dinner". "Everywhere I ... go, you Indians are ... everywhere," the woman is seen screaming in the video. "If life was so great in India, why you are here," she shouted and started assaulting the four Indian women.

When one of the women asked why she hates Indians, Upton said, Because of the way you speak."

Warning: The video has some graphic and racist language.

The other woman, an Indian mom, countered the arguments requesting Upton not to hurl racial slurs. At one point in time, the Mexican-American woman, who says she was born in the United States, is seen attacking one of them.

The woman can be seen reaching into her purse and approaching another woman, asking, "Turn the goddamn phone off or I swear to god I'll shoot ..…."

"This is so scary. She actually had a gun and wanted to shoot because these Indian-American women had accents while speaking English. Disgusting. This awful woman needs to be prosecuted for a hate crime," Reema Rasool, an American Democratic political candidate who during the US House of Representatives elections, said on Twitter.

'No place in Texas for hate'

A statement released by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Thursday said the organisation called on law enforcement to investigate and bring charges against Upton, who was described by CAIR as "the alleged assailant."

“The level of vitriol and alleged physical assault against four Indian-American women in Plano is truly appalling,” said Faizan Syed, executive director of CAIR. “This type of hate has no place in North Texas, and we call on law enforcement to investigate this incident as a hate crime
