In order to woo its Indian customers, multinational coffee chain Starbucks recently revamped its menu at its Bengaluru outlet and added items such as masala chai and filter coffee to it. The company also made an advertisement for its grandmother-approved filter coffee that cost Rs 290, excluding taxes. However, internet users were not happy with it and mocked the brand over the advertisement.


A Twitter user Adithya Venkatesan took to the micro-blogging site to share the advertisement that shows an elderly woman and a young man sipping filter coffee while seated next to one other. The text reads, "AJJI APPROVED FILTER COFFEE FOR SHIVVU. Starting at 290*".


Along with sharing the picture of the advertisement Venkatesan wrote, "Dear Starbucks, there's literally no ajji in god's green earth who'll approve a filter coffee for 290rs +taxes." 






The post has so far garnered more than 9 lakh views and over 20 thousand likes. The post was also filled with several comments from twitter users. 


"Mummy / Nani / Dadi teeno ghar se bahar nikal dengi 290 ki coffee ke chakkar mein iss se behtar hai Ghar par pi lu," wrote one user.






"290 for coffee. Man I can have an entire meal with icecream in same amount." wrote another Twitter user.






"Why would anyone buy filter coffee from Starbucks!! Missing the whole authentic element, wrote a third.






While a  fourth wrote, "My ajji would say you can buy coffee power for 2 months for our family with that money."
