Rajasthan is amongst the most favourite tourist destinations in the world. The rich culture, heritage, and food are something that people visiting the state love to explore. Kathputli or puppetry, a traditional play using rag dolls or puppets is still popular in many parts of the state that tourists love to experience during their visit.
However, this tradition recently saw a change after a video of the puppet show was shared online.
Posted on Instagram by a woman named Simrita, the clip shows a man singing Shakira’s hit song 'Waka Waka' on dholak while his partner made the 'kathputli' dance to the beats of the track inside a small decorated set-up in Jaipur.

"Insert sound ‘Shakira, eres tú (Shakira, is that you)’?" read the caption of the post. While the text insert read, "POV (Point Of View): You find Shakira outside of Amer Fort in Rajasthan."
Since being posted, the video has amassed over 2 lakh views, 203,455 likes and several comments.
"Why compare with Shakira she's perfect in her own way," wrote one user on seeing the video.
"@shakira should check it out !! shes gonna love it," wrote another user.
"Been there a month age and they were singing maan meri jaaan," wrote a third.
"Friend, I just went to Amer fort last month and I did not see this Shakira," wrote a fourth.
Raising concerns over the dying art, a user wrote, "No one's interested in the hardwork and art of these men."
Reiterating similar sentiments another user wrote, "There was a time when we all together liked to watch this and our school trips had these programs."
