A faculty member of an engineering college in the Philippines came out with a bizarre idea of letting her students design "anti-cheating" hats, which have now gone viral. The amusing visuals of the students writing their exams in creative hats resembling blinders will surely tickle your funny bones.


Students at the Bicol University College of Engineering in Legazpi City, who were directed to create their own "anti-cheating" hats to prevent them from looking at their peers' papers during midterm examinations, came out with unique ideas.


The university's faculty member, Mary Joy Mandane-Ortiz, who took inspiration from a Thai university gave full creative freedom to her students in customising their own hats, according to the local media Coconuts Manila.

The students, who took the assignment seriously ended up making hats that have garnered reactions on social media. She shared photos of her students wearing "anti-cheating" hats on Facebook. Some of the students can be seen wearing helmets, and others came wearing big hats, and cartoon figures made out of cardboard.

“Again, the Anti-cheating Hat is a reminder to all not to cheat, but to study well,” Ortiz wrote on Facebook. “Let us value integrity and honesty.” Ortiz also ended up giving students bonus points for their exams.


In one of her posts, Ortiz wrote: “I really love and am proud of my students because their engineering midterm exams can be pressuring and stressful, yet they managed to add some colour and fun. Thank you very much, students. You make me proud.”
