Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is literally everywhere nowadays. From the metaverse to crypto payments, Zuckerberg has his fingers dipped in a number of virtual pies. Now, it appears barbecue sauce might be the next item on the menu. On July 4, as the United States celebrated its independence day, Zuckerberg shared a photo on Instagram showing off a brand new bottle of ‘Zuck Sauce.’ Probably a play on duck sauce, the Zuck Sauce appears to be a traditional barbecue sauce. The US Independence Day is always marked by families enjoying a spot of barbecue on their lawns, so Zuckerberg’s latest post is indeed timely. However, there might be a catch.
“I’m honoured,” wrote Zuckerberg as he shared the photo of Zuck Sauce on Instagram. Now, one may think that the billionaire entrepreneur is launching, or partnering with others, to launch his brand new barbecue sauce. However, this bottle of sauce was apparently concocted by Pizzaslime, which is a creative project that brings out apparel with hilarious messages printed on them.
Now, a quick search through Pizzaslime’s official website — and a general Google search — didn’t yield any result for “Zuck Sauce.” So, it can be assumed that this is just a one-off creation to mark the July 4 celebrations and the product may not actually be available for sale. At the very least, no official announcement has been made by Zuckerberg or Pizzaslime yet.
Why does Zuckerberg has a sauce named after him?
So, why does a barbecue sauce named after Zuckerberg even exist? Well, for starters, Zuckerberg is a big fan of traditional American barbecue — as is apparent from another recent post of his.
Apart from that, in October last year, Zuckerberg appeared in a streaming event, where eagle-eyed fans spotted a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce being used as a bookend on one of his shelves.
In yet another streaming event in 2020, Zuckerberg was seen using the same barbecue sauce during a cookout. It appears that the ‘Zuck’ is indeed a big fan of barbecue sauces. But does that mean the Zuck Sauce is real and will hit the shelves soon? Only time will tell.
