US president Joe Biden has become known for making gaffes at public events. Several videos of Biden fumbling with words and forgetting in between public speeches has become viral. The US President once again captured the attention of social media users after he mispronounced the newly appointed UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s name at a Diwali event organised at the White House on Monday.

“Just today, we’ve got news that Rashee, Rashee Sanook is now the prime minister,” Biden said at the event.

“Pretty astounding,” Biden continued. “A groundbreaking milestone. And it matters, it matters.”

While Biden continues with his speech, the error on pronouncing Sunak's name invited a flurry of reactions on Twitter. Some were reminded of the former US President Donald Trump mispronouncing Swami Vivekananda's name, while others were unhappy by the lack of preparation and research done by the President.

On of the user while reacting to the video wrote, "Rashid Sanook! Does he introduce himself as Jim Bowden?"

"His highlight reel just keeps growing," Wrote another twitter user.

While another wrote "Go figure??? Guess I missed something."

One user annoyedly wrote, "Supreme irony that he is taking the mick out of our PMs. At least they have appeared capable of staying awake while being interviewed.... so far."

Rishi Sunak, who has his roots in India was appointed as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Monday after Liz Truss resigned from office just 49 days into her term.
