An image of a male mannequin wearing a colourful Indian attire is being shared widely on social media, with the claim that he looks like former US president Barack Obama. The mannequin can be seen donning a blue sherwani, popularly worn in India during weddings or festivals. The sherwani with silver embroidery is paired with a matching dupatta.

The photo of the mannequin was shared on Twitter by a user named lilcosmicowgirl. "Obama's Diwali party outfit," wrote the user, who posted the photo on Tuesday.

The post has since drawn a lot of attention, garnering more than 5,000 likes and nearly 500 retweets.

Several Twitter users have posted their remarks in the comments section.

“That's Baraat Obama”, commented a user, while another said: "Looks like the result of Dall E 2 prompt."

Some users uploaded a morphed image of Obama and his family wearing South Indian attire, extending Diwali greetings. "Welcome to Chandni Chowk," said yet another user, referring to the famous Old Delhi locality popular with shoppers.

While sharing the post, a user wrote, "Dripped out to celebrate Diwali in Middle Eastern countries."

"Plays taash, eats paan and launches drone attacks in the spirit of the festive period," commented another. Another person wrote, "Say shawa shawa".

However, this is not the first time that a mannequin has gone viral. Sports apparel company Nike had garnered praise in 2019 after it introduced plus-sized mannequins at its flagship store in London.

Earlier this year, an Indian-American family in New Jersey installed a life-size mannequin of Amitabh Bachchan at their home. The family had ordered the Amitabh mannequin from Rajasthan and got it shipped to the US. The entire project cost them US$ 75,000 (approximately Rs 60 lakh).
