"As you all know today is Mother’s Day and I am sure you must be pouring all your love on your mothers. I would also like to make a small homage to my mom," he spoke into the in-flight phone. "Thank you so much mom, for everything you have done for me. And for always being there for me."

However, just a day earlier the airline landed in hot waters after refusing to let a handicapped adolescent on board stating the panicked boy was a risk to other passengers. Issuing a statement, IndiGo said, "In view of the safety of passengers, a specially-abled child could not board the flight with his family on May 7, as he was in a state of panic." The ground staff waited for him to calm down till the last minute but to no avail, it said.
Later, the CEO made a similar statement saying after reviewing all aspects, the staff made a very difficult decision under the circumstances. Calling his parents “heroes” for taking care of their specially-abled child the airline further offered to buy the child an electric wheelchair.
