New Delhi: Making sure your child grows up to become a well-groomed person is a daunting task. No child is the same due to which a different approach is required for each one of them. IAS Divya Mittal, who is a parent to two daughters shared some tips based on her experience and her childhood observation that has now caught the attention of the Twitterati.
In a thread of tweets, Mittal wrote about how her mother raised all three siblings who grew up to become successful individuals. Based on her upbringing and experiences of raising her daughters she shared some insights into parenting. Mittal in her tweets talked about how parents should reinforce the idea that their children can do anything so that they start believing in themselves and nest their destiny.
The IAS officer talked about how letting children fall and compete will expose them to failures at a young age and help them understand the consequences of their actions. She wrote, "Fear of failure is a bigger hindrance in success than failure."
Similarly, letting them be somewhat risky in their life - by playing adventure sports or even climbing a tree - may hurt them in the process but will make them behave responsibly, she wrote.
She said giving children an "abundance mindset" can help them jump to higher orbits.
Mittal in her tweet wrote how parents should be role models for their children and shun bad behaviour quickly to help children walk on the right path. The importance of listening and trusting children was also an important tip from her.
She also emphasized children having the experience of visiting museums and orphanages.
