Bihu, marks the beginning of the agricultural season and is celebrated in Assam with great enthusiasm. However, veteran Bollywood actor Hema Malini in a Tweet mistakenly called it the festival of Bihar and got brutally trolled for it by social media users.
"It is the Harvest season now. Tamizh Puthandu (New year), Baisakhi (Punjab), Bihu (Bihar) and Pohela Baisakh or Naba Barsha (Bengal) are some of the festivals celebrated. Wish you all a wonderful festival month," wrote Hema Malini while sending out good wishes to people on the festivals.
Later, she corrected her mistake and wrote, "By mistake I have put Bihu is a festival celebrated in Bihar. I am sorry! That should read Bihu, festival of Assam."
But before she could correct herself the tweet had gone viral with tons of comments.
"That’s why education is an integral part of life! Bihu is for Assam! It’s our pride," wrote one user a little annoyed.
"You are absolutely wrong madam, Bihu belongs to Assam only, we just achieved Guinness world record today as maximum number of group dance performers in a single venue," wrote another user.
"After coming to Assam so many times, still a politician doesn't know which state is celebrating which festival. #Bihu is the main festival of #Assam and not Bihar," echoed a third.
"Thank You for the correction Happy BIHU," wrote a fourth after the Tweet was corrected by the veteran Bollywood actress.
