New Delhi: A man in Gurugram was arrested on Monday for slapping and hurling expletives at a security guard at a high-rise residential society in Sector 50 after he was trapped inside an elevator, police said. The video of the incident is going viral on social media in which the man, who was identified as Varun Nath (39), a businessman, was seen slapping a security guard after he stepped out from the lift.






Varun used abusive words as soon as he came out of the lift. While asking such questions as to who was on duty, he first misbehaved with a guard named Ashok and then carried out the incident of assault on him. Meanwhile, Varun raised his hand on the other guard who came to save Ashok and also beat him on the spot. This whole incident was captured in the CCTV installed near the guard room.


Later, security guards of the society assembled at its entryway and begun a protest against the accused. In the wake of getting data about the episode, a police team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 50 police headquarters, arrived at the spot, the police said.


As per the complaint, Nath got caught inside a lift in Tower 12 around 7:20 am and informed Kumar through the radio. After coming out of the lift, the accused began manhandling him and slapped him on numerous occasions, the police said.


He likewise slapped the lift operator and took steps to kill him and Kumar, they said.


"We registered a case soon after receiving a complaint in the matter. The accused has been arrested and is being questioned," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Virender Vij.


Nath has been booked under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
