Deepak Perwani, a well-known Pakistani fashion designer and actor, is being trolled online for his views on India. The 50-year-old Sindhi Hindu said in a recent interview that the living conditions in India is better than in Pakistan, and that people are happier in India where living conditions are better and women enjoy more independence.

Appearing on Aamna Haider's show Haute Talk, Perwani talked about his recent visit to India where he found that "Indians have it better".

“If you see their lives comparatively, Indians have it better. There is happiness there. People smile, laugh. Women freely walk on the streets, ride cycles and motorbikes. Even the rickshaw pullers and cab drivers have UPI,” he said.

"It's far more dynamic," Perwani said, talking about a bustling India as he weighed in on Pakistan's "concrete-heavy" urban areas.

“There are pavements and footpaths too. It’s not a concrete jungle,” he said, comparing India's cities to Karachi.

In fact, he complained about "concrete jungle" Karachi in a recent post on X too. Sharing a video of an old building being demolished, he posted: "As we move forward our identity dies . #karachi #sindh . There are no stories to tell no history to remember. Just ugly concrete jungle that’s #karachi #pakistan."

On Haute Talk, Perwani was also asked what he thought about the lives of minorities in Pakistan, replying to which he spoke about an "opportunity" to move to India around 15 years back.

Though he acknowledged his place of privilege, the acclaimed fashion designer said, without naming India: "Now I think I should have left 15 years ago...." He, however, added that though he still had the opportunity to leave Pakistan, there was no point going now since he has already spent most of his life in that country.

His comments, however, left Pakistan divided, even as he is getting all the love from Indians.

‘Move To India And Spare Us’

The interview video uploaded on YouTube is getting a lot of traction, with people leave their response in the comments section.

"Deepak is absolutely right, things have become so bad here," posted one user, which another said: "Nice to see someone is praising India and the other one is not offended at all and also praising India."

The remarks, however, did not go down well with a lot of Pakistani viewers.

"Talking about freedom, if any muslim Indian celebrity praises Pakistan and talks about wanting to move, how would he be treated," one user posted.

Another person wrote: "Plz stop complaining...minorities r 100 times better treated in Pakistan."

Many people said Perwani may consider moving to India.

"Running away isn't solution. Go go india u would never get respect u r getting here," said a user, with another adding: "He needs to move to India and spare us!"

A clip posted on Instagram also saw some negative comments.

"Some people feel happiness in belittling their country. He is one of them," said one, while another said: "He should leave our country n go to India."
