Charging your phone or any other device at work place may sound like a common activity, especially when you spend a significant amount of time in office. But an employee has shared a situation where he was reprimanded by his boss as he tried to plug in his phone. Taking to social networking site Reddit, the user by the name of @Melodic-Code-2594, shared that his boss yelled at him for charging his phone at work. What was even more surprising is that he was accused by his boss of ''stealing the company's electricity for personal use.''
''My boss got onto me today for charging my phone at work, saying I'm stealing the company's electricity for personal use. What do you guys think? I'm not on my phone all day or anything I just sometimes forget to charge it at night before I go to bed. It's a desk job',' the employee wrote on Reddit.
Since being shared, the post has garnered close to 2,000 upvotes. Many people also took to the comments box of the post to share their views on the bizarre incident.
"There are really no words. If a boss said that to me, I might ask him if the company is struggling financially," wrote on user on the post.
"Tell me your boss doesn't actually do anything productive without telling me your boss doesn't do anything productive.....," commented another user.
"At that point, malicious compliance comes in the form of not using your phone at all for anything work related. No email, no calls/texts, no MFA. If they want to have you do anything requiring a phone they have to issue you one at their expense," wrote a third.
"Definitely about wanting to control you, rather than an economic concern, commented a fourth.
