Bengaluru news: Bengaluru faced severe traffic disruptions after heavy rainfall caused waterlogging leaving commuters stranded for up to two hours on Wednesday. The situation was particularly dire near the Silk Board junction where the Electronic City flyover was submerged leading to widespread frustration among the city’s residents.
Many took to social media platform X to share their woes, with some recounting how they resorted to walking home due to the standstill traffic. One user remarked, "Thanks to Bengaluru’s infra, waterlogged roads, and standstill traffic, I managed to complete my walking workout by walking 3 kms home. Despite broken footpaths, it took me 45 minutes on foot, while covering the same distance by cab in Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) traffic would have taken 2.5 hours."
The rain-induced chaos reignited discussions on the state of Bengaluru’s infrastructure. Netizens pointed out the stark contrast between the city’s claim to "world-class infrastructure" and the reality of pothole-riddled roads, particularly along Sarjapur Road. While potholes have been a persistent problem in the city and were a key issue in last year’s Karnataka Assembly elections, the recent rains once again brought this concern to the forefront.
Amid the criticism, however, several users lauded the efforts of the Bengaluru traffic police, with some suggesting that they are working beyond their regular duties to manage the situation on the roads.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first instance of how the city’s notorious traffic has inspired creative solutions. In a viral story earlier, a man made headlines for ordering pizza while being stuck in traffic, which was delivered to his car as he waited in a prolonged jam.
