Bengaluru Rains: Residents Call Out State Authorities, Ask ‘Where All The Tax Money Is Going’

Several senior executives of the start-ups working in the city took to social media to point out the worsening road and traffic conditions as a result of the recent rains

Problems for Bengaluru’s residents don’t seem to be ending anytime soon as rains continue to wreak havoc on the city’s transport system. However, tech leaders in India’s Silicon Valley seem to be reaching their frustration limit with the city claiming that it comes to a complete halt after every rain.

Several senior executives of the start-ups working in the city took to social media to point out the worsening road and traffic conditions as a result of the recent rains. Curefoods founder, Ankit Nagori, in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, shared that he had to commute through three hours of traffic to travel 10 km. “Would have been 4 had I not walked the last 5 km. Earlier it used to be once or twice a year and now it’s almost after every rains,” he noted.

Another person shared Nagori’s frustration and said there is no hope of any improvement in things as the government has shrugged responsibility. 

A user, Ritesh Banglani, in his post shared an image of his vehicle travelling through flooded roads. The investor said, “I'm in a traffic jam in the middle of a frigging river. But hey, at least the signboards are in Kannada.”

YouTuber Ishan Sharma also questioned the authorities on what they are doing with the taxpayers’ money? He said, “Welcome to Bengaluru Technology capital of India. Most "advanced" city. Gets flooded with a couple of days of rain. 1.5hrs commute for 11km I wonder where all the tax money is going?”
