Incessant rainfall in Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) continued for the third consecutive day on Friday, leading to waterlogging in several parts and massive traffic snarls. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned people about moderate showers across the city and issued a "yellow alert".

Delhi recorded more than half of the rainfall in September in just 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Friday, leading it from being rain deficient to rain surplus this month. The IMD has attributed the heavy rain to the interaction of a western disturbance and a low-pressure system.

Schools in Noida from classes 1 to 8 remained closed on Friday while Gurugram issued an advisory to private institutions and corporate offices to guide their employees to work from home to avoid traffic congestion on roads.

Several commuters took to Twitter and shared the traffic conditions on the ground. Traffic movement on the Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai highway was majorly hit due to waterlogging.

More rains are expected before the monsoon retreats from the National Capital Region by the end of September, PTI reported.

#DelhiRains remained among top trends on Twitter with netizens sharing pictures and videos of rains lashing the city. Twitterati also went all out and shared relatable memes on the delayed arrival of monsoon rains.
