As Rishi Sunak was appointed as the next prime minister of the United Kingdom on Monday, many Indian politicians, celebrities, and sporting personalities took to social media platforms to congratulate him on becoming the first Indian-origin Prime Minister of the country.

But a tweet by the chairman of Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra won the hearts of the internet users. The 67-year-old businessman who is quite popular on social media, especially on Twitter, recalled a Winston Churchill comment as Sunak gets ready to become UK PM.

"Churchill supposedly said “…all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw.” Today, during the 75th year of our Independence, we’re poised to see a man of Indian origin anointed as PM of the UK. Life is beautiful…," Mahindra wrote on Twitter.

Mahindra's Tweet received appreciation from several users and saw over 13K retweets and 89K Likes.

One of the twitter user wrote " Sabki apni paari hai ,, aaj teri hai kal meri baari ha,"

"Karma has unlimited storage capacity to give back to everyone even after decades," wrote another user while reacting to the tweet by Mahindra.

Another wrote, "It's must be really a "annus horibilis" for the British; they lost their queen, the pound tumbled, and they had to elect an Indian origin person as PM to clean up the mess created by themselves!"

However, some were quick to point out that Sunak has always been a British Citizen.

"Parents moved from Africa to England. Born in England. I don't understand how he is Indian origin?" wrote a user.

While another replied to Mahindra's Tweet Saying, No, he is not of Indian Origin. Please don't join the herd. You are supposed to be a Business Leader."
