A special CBI court on Friday extended the judicial custody of six accused in the murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy. The accused include YS Bhaskar Reddy, who is the father of Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy. The court extended their judicial custody till June 30.
The accused -- Yerra Gangi Reddy, Sunil Yadav, Umashankar Reddy, Devireddy Shivashankar Reddy, YS Bhaskar Reddy, and Uday Kumar Reddy -- were presented before the court as their judicial custody ended Friday. After the extension of their remand, they were taken back to Chanchalguda Central Jail in Hyderabad.
Last week, the court rejected the bail petition of YS Bhaskar Reddy. He was arrested on April 16 in Pulivendula town, Kadapa district, and subsequently brought to Hyderabad.
Vivekananda Reddy, the brother of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found dead at his residence in Pulivendula, Kadapa district, on the night of March 15, 2019, just days before the elections.

YS Bhaskar Reddy, who is the cousin of the late YS Vivekananda Reddy, had filed a bail petition. During the hearing, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reportedly informed the court that YS Avinash Reddy, MP from Kadapa, and Bhaskar Reddy's son, was listed as accused in the murder case. The CBI alleged that Avinash Reddy and his father conspired to tamper with evidence, obstructing the inquiry.
On June 3, the CBI arrested Avinash Reddy, but he was released on bail the same day after completing the necessary formalities as per the Telangana High Court order.
While granting anticipatory bail on May 31, the Telangana High Court ruled that in the event of the petitioner's arrest by the CBI, he shall be released on bail on executing a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh with two sureties for a like sum each.
