Hyderabad: Ahead of taking a mega rally in poll-bound Munugode in Telangana, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday performed puja at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad. After slamming the ruling TRS at a public meeting in Munugode, a video of Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay rushing to fetch the footwear of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was seen coming out of the Mahakali temple, went viral on Monday.

Sanjay, who frequently claims TRS leaders are under the control of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, has been drawing criticism from all party leaders.

Minister KT Rama Rao while sharing the video said, "The people of Telangana are watching, 'slaves of Gujarati leaders who carry shoes of the union ministers and also the leader who is fighting against the Centre'."

He further wrote that all sections of society are ready to reject those who insulted Telangana's self-respect and to protect Telangana's self-esteem.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) in charge for Telangana, Manickam Tagore, posted the video with a caption reading: "Telangana BJP state president Sanjay Bandi takes shoes of Amit Shah. 'Telugu Vari Atma Gauravam (self-respect of Telugu people)'. What’s the position of Backward class leader in BJP see the truth."

On Sunday, Amit Shah visited Telangana. He led prayers at a temple in Secunderabad before addressing a public in the Munugode Assembly constituency to formally begin the BJP's by-election campaign. The byelection is being held in Munugode after sitting Congress MLA Komtireddy Rajagopal Reddy joined BJP after resigning from his post.

Amit Shah also met with Tollywood actor Jr NTR on Sunday evening. The meeting took place over dinner after the BJP leader reached the hotel from Ramoji Film City (RFC), where he called on media baron Ramoji Rao.
