New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the KCR administration in Telangana on Sunday and said that Congress legislator K Rajagopal Reddy joining the BJP is "just the beginning of the uprooting of the state government".

Addressing a rally at Munugode in Nalgonda district on Sunday, Shah, as quoted by news agency ANI said, “The joining of Rajagopal Reddy in the BJP is the beginning of the uprooting of KCR govt. They promised that they will celebrate Telangana Liberation Day in September. However, KCR govt did not fulfil their promise.”

It is to be noted that Shah visited the constituency ahead of its bypolls after the resignation of Reddy, who joined the BJP on Sunday.

Taking further potshots at the Telangana government, Shah, as quoted by Times Now, said, “Modi government reduced petrol prices twice. However, KCR government has not reduced the VAT on petrol. This has led to spike in inflation in Telangana...the state government isn't ready to procure rice at MSP from the farmers. We promise to procure rice if BJP is given an opportunity to form govt here.”

Notably, Amit Shah’s rally comes a day after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao addressed a public rally on Saturday in the constituency of Munugode, indicating TRS party’s preparedness for the byelection.
