Tension Erupts In Telangana's Medak As 2 Communities Clash Over Cow Transportation, Section 144 Imposed

Telangana News: Tension erupted in Telangana’s Medhak district after a clash erupted between two communities over the alleged illegal transport of cows, news agency ANI reported on Sunday. Following the clashes, the police said that Section 144 has been imposed near Ramdas Chowrasta in the district.

Notably, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which prohibits the gathering of four or more people in an area, is usually implemented to avoid any protests that could lead to violence and riots.

"The police imposed Section 144 in the area, and the situation is under control now," Medak Superintendent of Police Office B Bala Swamy said, as quoted by ANI.

A senior police officer said that the situation is under control and a few people have been taken into custody. The official further stated that an investigation has been launched and cases are being registered against both parties. According to him, the scuffle broke out when the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leaders stopped the transportation of the cows, and instead of giving a complaint, they staged a protest.

"The scuffle led to two persons receiving injuries. After that, both parties staged a protest on the road. The hospital where the injured persons were receiving treatment was also attacked," Swamy said, as quoted by ANI.

Meanwhile in another incident in the state, a woman was arrested in Siddipet district under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually exploiting a 16-year-old teenager, police said on Saturday, as reported by news agency PTI. 

The 27-year-old woman has been staying in a rented house in Siddipet with her husband and two children for the last three years, a police release said. The woman had induced the teenager, who is son of the landlord, to have a physical relationship with her, it said.

She persuaded the teenager to bring cash and gold jewellery from his house. They then left for Chennai in January and both have been staying there since then. According to PTI, the teenager's mother had complained to police about her son's disappearance and raised suspicion on the woman.
