Hyderabad: A woman in Hyderabad's Moula Ali area allegedly got her husband abducted so she could live with the man she was having an affair with, police said Wednesday.

A case was registered after the police rescued the man, Sheikh Wajid (31), who works as a salesman in a footwear store, on the basis of his phone location.

The abduction took place on Saturday. According to the police, the accused who abducted Wajid beat her up so he would agree to divorce Apshia Begum (24).

Wajid and Apshia, who lived in RTC Colony in Hyderabad's Moula Ali, got married in 2012 and have two children, but Apshia wanted to be with another man, Asif, whom he met thorugh social media, the police said.

Asif, who is originally from Mushirabad area of Hyderabad, works as a caterer. He is already married twice, and also has children.

Apshia had gone to live with Asif last April, but after Wajid lodged a complaint at the Malkajgiri police station they found her and brought her back to her husband.

After some time, she along with her two children went to Asif's house once again to stay with him. But with the help of his in-laws, Wajid got her and the children back again.

According to the police, Apshia didn't want to stay with Wajid and wanted a divorce, but the latter would not agree. She then allegedly hatched an abduction plan, with the help of one Imran Mohammad (31), Mohammad Zafar (33), Irfan Ahmad and Mahmood, along with "mastermind" Asif.

The four allegedly went to Wajid's workplace in Secunderabad on two bikes on Saturday evening and abducted him. They kept him for two days and severely beat him up on Monday to make him agree to the divorce, the police said. With Wajid away, the divorce was granted in the presence of "religious elders", they added.

Wajid somehow managed to report his abduction to police on Monday night. He was then rescued based on the his phone location.

The police arrested Imran Ahmed and Zafar, who were involved in the kidnapping, along with Apsia Begum. A hunt is on for Irfan Ahmed and Mahmoud, and also Asif, who are at large.
