Hyderabad: Telangana is trying to expand its electronic manufacturing sector by establishing two new clusters and finding land parcels outside of Hyderabad, said Information Technology and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday.

At the inauguration of a new Radiant Appliances & Electronics unit at Ravirayala E-City, Rangareddy District in Hyderabad, KTR said the state government aims to create 16 lakh jobs in the electronics sector in the next 10 years. Telangana is ahead of other states in software, hardware and other manufacturing and electronics.

Minister KTR said that many companies were interested in setting up their business centres in the city due to security, infrastructure and government cooperation in the Telangana State. Radiant is a company that makes LED TVs. About 50 per cent of the people working in the company are women and locals.

KTR recalls that the state has added over one lakh jobs in the electronic manufacturing industry in the last seven years. At E-City Raviryala, 15,000 people are directly employed by the enterprises that have relocated, with the number expected to rise to 40,000 in a year.
