Hyderabad: To combat the drug-trafficking issue, city police commissioner CV Anand has established two new wings to register crimes, investigate, and acquire information on drug-trafficking activities.

The two special police wings are Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and Narcotics Investigation Supervising Wing. City commissioner CV Anand said that the CM K Chandrashekar Rao held review meetings and directed to curb drugs menace and gave clear directions.

He also said that the CM in a meeting on January 28 had directed strict measures to eradicate drug trafficking in the state. After the arrest of Tony, issues like drugs consumption and the operation of drug peddlers came to light. He said Tony had links with Hyderabad businessmen and had been arrested and has been jailed.

However, on Wednesday, DGP Mahendra Reddy and city commissioner CV Anand launched two divisions, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and the Narcotics Investigation Supervising Wing. The two divisions will be based at the Hyderabad commissioner headquarters.

The police officials have decided to set up narcotics drug control units in all the Telangana commissionerates and district centres. Accordingly, these divisions will likely be set up soon in the district centres.
