New Delhi: Telangana's Siddipet district has been awarded Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, 2019 under the 'Mission Indradhanush' program for running successful vaccination and immunisation process and achieving 100 per cent vaccination for the children below two years age.


The district authorities took up various programs to identify children who have missed out on vaccinations for a variety of reasons and have distributed vaccines to those children under the 'Mission Indradhanush' program. This reportedly caught the Centre's eye and the district administration has been adjudged with the prestigious award.


Taking this good news to Twitter, Telangana Health Minster T Harish Rao heaped praises over the administration.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday stated that there is an increment of vaccinated children in the age group of 12 months to 23 months by 14.4 per cent in 2021 and has credited the success to 'Mission Indrashanush'. He further mentioned that in 2015-16 the vaccinated per cent of children were 62 per cent which has increased by 14.4 per cent by 2019-21 to make it 76.4 per cent.


Mission Indradhanush aims at immunizing children completely up to the age group of two years with all available vaccinations.
