Hyderabad: Telangana IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao stated that the state's IT sector has made significant growth in the eight years since the TRS government took charge. Minister KTR on Wednesday released the IT Annual Report for the year 2021-22 at the Tech Mahindra office in Hyderabad's Hi-Tech City.

Speaking on this occasion, KTR said despite the Covid-19 pandemic and its negative economic impact, Telangana state saw a 26.14 per cent increase in Information Technology exports during 2021-22. KTR explained that this was an increase of 9 per cent over the national average.

KTR said the number of jobs in the IT sector has also increased significantly. Last year, 4.5 lakh IT jobs were created across the country, up from 1.5 lakh in Hyderabad alone.

"Going with our progress rate, Telangana IT exports will cross the 2035 projections by 2025 despite the no ITIR support. This means we will reach the 25-year target in 15 years," he said.

He said 1,49,506 net new jobs were added in the IT/ ITeS sector to take the total number of employees in Telangana state to 7,78,121.
