Telangana has experienced significant growth in the information technology sector in 2022-23. According to the annual report released by Minister for Information Technology K T Rama Rao, the state registered a remarkable 31.44% growth in IT exports. The total value of IT/ITeS exports reached Rs 2,41,275 crore, compared to Rs 1,83,569 crore in the previous year (2021–22), reflecting a growth rate of 26% from the previous year.






Minister KTR said this substantial growth in IT exports is quite impressive and indicates a thriving IT industry in Telangana. Additionally, the state's IT sector has also contributed to job creation, with nearly 1.27 lakh new jobs added during fiscal year 2022-23. He said that Telangana added an impressive 1,27,594 new jobs in the IT/ITeS sector during the fiscal year 2022–23, bringing the total employment in the industry to 9,05,715. This signifies a significant year-on-year increase of 16.29% compared to the previous financial year.

The Minister stated that Telangana's rapid progress in IT/ITeS sector exports and job creation positions the state to surpass the targets set in the 2nd ICT Policy 2021–26. The state aims to achieve Rs 3 lakh crore in exports and create 10 lakh jobs, and it is on track to exceed these ambitious milestones as early as 2024, two years ahead of schedule.


KTR also highlighted the substantial growth Telangana has experienced since 2013–14, when IT/ITeS exports amounted to only Rs 57,258 crore, employing around 3,23,396 people. This significant progress showcases the state's continuous efforts to promote the IT sector and establish Telangana as a thriving hub for technology and innovation.
