Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks in Karnataka on Sunday about "Hyderabad Liberation Day".

Taking to Twitter, KTR wrote, "Amit Shah Ji, 17th September has been celebrated by the Telangana government officially as National Integration Day since Hyderabad state was integrated into the Indian Union on the same day in 1948. Your blatant misrepresentation is indeed unbecoming of the stature of a Union HM".

"Some news clips of the same for your reference," wrote KTR along with the posts of some newspaper clippings about the celebration of the National Integration Day.

"To those who ask why can't we call it Liberation Day; Why do we celebrate 15th August as Independence Day and not as Liberation Day? What should matter is a respectful commemoration of the sacrifices and struggles against oppressors; be it the British or Nizam," KTR tweeted. "Stop being a prisoner of the past. Become the Architect of your Future," he added.

During his visit to Karnataka on Sunday, Amit Shah targeted the BRS government of Telangana for 'hesitating' to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day.

On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a memorial and hoisted a 103 feet tall tricolour in Karnataka's Gorta village in memory of hundreds of people who were killed by the army of Nizams, back in 1948, for hoisting the national flag.

While launching an attack on the Congress party, the Union Home Minister said that in the greed of the vote bank, they never commemorated the martyrs of independence and 'Hyderabad Mukti'. He said, "Due to Congress' politics of polarisation, in the greed for the vote bank, they never commemorated the people who sacrificed themselves for independence and 'Hyderabad mukti'."
