Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao sought the Centre to accord in-principle approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project from BHEL to Lakdikapul as it is jointly owned project of the Government of India (GoI) and Government of Telangana State (GoTS) with external financial assistance.

Minister KTR requested in a letter to Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, that the approval of the project be included in the upcoming union budget for 2023-24. The 26-kilometre-long proposed metro line will also have 23 stations and the cost of the project is mentioned as Rs 8,453 crore.

The Telangana minister requested a meeting with the Union Minister to discuss about the project. To prevent delays in processing, the Telangana government provided Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the project (as prepared by DMRC) and other related documentation to the GoI on October 27, 2022, KTR added.

With the opening of all offices in the post-COVID scenario, the need for expanding and enhancing the public transport system cannot be overstated, he added in the letter.

The first phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project has been completed and is fully operating. He also stated that it is the world's largest Metro Rail Project in PPP mode under the Centre's VGF scheme.

KTR answers to a young boy's request for Water

On Monday, Minister KT Rama Rao responded positively on Twitter to the boy's petition for water supply at his housing society, Golden City, near Rajendranagar in Hyderabad.

"Small Children's Day wish to KTR uncle," reads a poster held by the young boy, which is seen in the video. "For the past five years, we have been waiting for municipal water. We have a lot of issues. Please assist us," he registered a complaint on the video.

The Minister replied to the boy's petition by directing Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director M Dana Kishore to go directly to the boy's colony and resolve the issue.
