The Telangana High Court on Wednesday ordered the release of suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh nearly two and a half months after he was detained under the Preventive Detention Act. However, the Telangana High Court has imposed certain conditions.

Raja Singh, the BJP's legislator from the Goshamahal constituency, was ordered by the court to not release any derogatory videos on social media and not address the media after his release. He has also been barred from holding any rallies or processions during his release.

The court also stated that Raja Singh's wife, lawyer, and only four immediate relatives were permitted to accompany him to the prison during his release.

In August, Singh made offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammed in a YouTube video, similar to those made by suspended BJP politician Nupur Sharma.

Raja Singh was detained on August 23 after his remarks provoked citywide protests in Hyderabad. However, he was granted bail on the same day on the grounds that he had not been given notice, as stipulated under Section 41(A) of the CrPC.

Later, on August 25, the MLA was arrested again under the PD Act. The Telangana government had rejected appeals made by Raja’s wife, Usha Bai, stating that there were "no valid grounds" to revoke the controversial MLA’s detention.

According to the police, 101 criminal cases were registered against Raja Singh. He is also involved in 18 communal offences. The police said that Raja Singh has been habitually giving provocative speeches and driving a wedge between communities, leading to public disorder.
