The Telangana government has taken a step to expand the Information Technology (IT) sector beyond major cities to tier-II towns by establishing an IT Tower in Nizamabad. The IT Tower was inaugurated on Wednesday by Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao. Nizamabad is located about 200 km from Hyderabad, which is a key global IT hub. The IT Tower is a state-of-the-art building covering 55,000 square feet and was constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 crore. Minister KTR said the facility aims to provide a platform for IT companies to operate in Nizamabad and tap into the local talent pool. Fifteen companies have already begun their operations at the Nizamabad IT Tower, and it is expected to create job opportunities for approximately 1,400 youth.
The Minister informed that about 1400 students from various colleges of Nizamabad have already been recruited and more would be absorbed in the near future. He emphasised that the IT Tower will provide local youth with the means to pursue their aspirations of securing technology-oriented jobs, both within Hyderabad and overseas. “This IT Hub is not a building, but an expectation of the youth of the district. This will act as a launching pad for them to build their career,” he said.
He urged the students to improve their skills so that they could secure jobs. The IT Tower also houses the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) Centre and RGUKT Basara’s Innovation Hub, which was inaugurated by the Minister.
This marks the fifth IT tower to be established in tier-II towns within the state. The IT tower in Mahabubnagar town was inaugurated in May, while IT centers are already operational in Warangal, Karimnagar, and Khammam. Additionally, similar facilities are under development in Nalgonda, Siddipet, and Adilabad.
The Nizamabad IT Hub has already attracted significant interest from various companies, with 15 enterprises committed to establishing their presence and recruiting employees to initiate operations, according to Mahesh Bigala, BRS Global NRI Coordinator.
The dynamic and vibrant ecosystem of the IT Hub is expected to draw investments, generate employment opportunities, and foster the growth of the IT industry in Nizamabad, Bigala stated.
The establishment of the Nizamabad IT Hub aligns with the state government's vision of cultivating a thriving technology ecosystem throughout the region. With its modern infrastructure and strategic location, the hub is positioned to become a nucleus of innovation, collaboration, and economic prosperity. The convergence of technology and job prospects will pave the way for digital transformation, thereby contributing to the comprehensive socio-economic development of Nizamabad.
At a separate function, the Minister announced Rs.60 crore for laying internal roads in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation. “Each division of the Corporation will be allocated Rs.1 crore for laying roads,” he said, adding that the work on the Kala Bharathi auditorium would soon be completed while work on two modern markets too would be finished in the next few weeks.
