Hyderabad: The Telangana government has taken precautionary measures to protect pregnant women who test postive for Covid-19. The state has decided to set up special wards and also operation theatres in all hospitals for Covid-positive pregnant women.
On Tuesday, Health Minister Harish Rao, Health Secretary SAM Rizvi, DME Ramesh Reddy and DPH Srinivasa Rao held a meeting with district medical and health officers, urban primary health centres, hospital superintendents, and primary health care officers via teleconference.
He instructed that individuals in need of emergency care and surgeries for Covid patients should not be denied, and that a special operating theatre and ward should be built up for them. District medical officers were directed to conduct field-level visits and take necessary steps to know the situation.
Minister Harish Rao also directed the basti dispensaries, public health centres and sub-centres to remain open On Sunday until the Covid cases subside.
Anyone with symptoms should be tested and given a kit if they have symptoms. It was suggested that the vaccination programme be carried out until 10 PM in each vaccination centre, as per the directions issued by the Central government.
Minister Harish Rao suggested that Telangana should be number one in vaccination. It was ordered to ensure that the vaccine be given to everyone eligible in the state, with the cooperation of local public representatives. Municipal staff, police and other departments who are frontline workers have been ordered to complete 100 per cent booster doses too.
