Telangana Polls: Congress Promises Pension To Statehood Martyrs' Kin, E-Scooters For Women In Manifesto

In the manifesto, Congress promised to identify martyrs of the first and last phase of Telangana movement, officially recognise and provide a government job to one person from their family.

In a significant move ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the party's manifesto, outlining key promises and initiatives on Friday (November 17). Among the highlights, the manifesto included the provision of 1 tola Gold (equivalent to 10 grams) for brides, distribution of free electric scooters to female students, commitment to generate 2 lakh jobs and a substantial 2 lakh crop loan waiver. Congress also promised to restore “PRAJA DARBAR” daily at the CM camp office and said MLAs will be constantly available to the people of their constituency and hold regular “PRAJA DARBARS” under good governance.

Taking to X, Congress said, "Congress President Shri @kharge launched the party's manifesto for the upcoming Telangana elections. Just as we fulfilled all our promises in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, we are similarly committed to fulfilling our promises to the people of Telangana."
 
 
 

Highlights of Telangana Manifesto: 

> Provide Rs. 1,00,000 and 10 grams of gold as Indiramma gift to the Hindu and Rs. 1,60,000 for the minority girls at the time of their marriage.

> Electric scooters will be provided to all young women above 18 years of age and who are pursuing education.

> 2 lakh government jobs will be filled in the first year.

> SC, ST, BC and Minority backlog posts will be filled in the first year.

> Waive off crop loans of 2 lakhs at once, as soon as INC assumes power.

> Martyrs of the first and last phase of Telangana movement will be identified, officially recognised and a government job will be given to one person from their family. Additionally, a monthly honorary pension of Rs. 25,000 will be given to their mother/father/wife.
 
Earlier, Congress released 'Farmers Declaration', 'SC, ST Declaration' and 'Youth Declaration' as promises to the Telangana voters in the assembly polls.
 
The party also announced six guarantees to Telangana ahead of the elections. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi said, "Rs 2,500 per month financial assistance will be given to women in Telangana under the Mahalakshmi scheme, gas cylinders at Rs 500, and free travel for women in TSRC buses across the state, to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana we are announcing 6 guarantees and we are committed to fulfill each one of them."
