Days after he announced his resignation as Congress MLA from Munugode, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy on Monday submitted his resignation to Telangana Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.

He is expected to join Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 21. Rajgopal Reddy had announced resignation from the Congress party and also as an MLA on August 3 (Wednesday).

"I hereby tender my resignation of my seat in the house with effect from 08.08.2022 (Monday)," Komatireddy said in a letter to the speaker.

In another setback to Congress, days after Rajgopal Reddy resigned, AICC spokesperson Dosaju Sravan announced his resignation from the party. Sravan held TPCC chief Revanth Reddy responsible for quitting the party.

A team of senior party leaders rushed to Sravan upon knowing about his decision to convince him to stay back in the party but it didn't work out. Sravan alleged that a few senior leaders in the party from Telangana have been giving wrong survey reports to high command.

He further said that Revanth's casteist remark that Reddys are better rulers has kept BCs, SCs and STs leaders at bay.
