Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy on Friday alleged that certain police officers especially those related to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) are "acting like the private army" for the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), further claiming that the personnel are working to make Chief Minister's party win. Earlier this week, more than a dozen cases were lodged against Reddy, who is also a Lok Sabha member, based on the complaints filed by police officers' associations across the state that accused him of making derogatory and threatening remarks against the force.

"Today I'm speaking again with full responsibility that a few police officers especially the relatives of CM KCR are acting like the private army to TRS (now BRS). They are working to make the TRS party win. We won't spare them, we'll write their name in a diary," news agency ANI quoted Revanth Reddy as saying.

He went on to threaten action against officers if the Congress forms government in Telangana, "As soon as the Congress party will make its government the investigation will happen and they'll get punishment for filing false cases against Congress leaders. These officers are not even following court orders under pressure from the government."

According to One India Telugu, the Telangana Congress President had previously said that a 'red diary' is being maintained that includes the names of all the cops who favour BRS, and action would be taken against them based on that list. Telangana Today reported that the Lok Sabha MP warned that these cops would be “thrashed black and blue”.

"I want to tell the Mahabubnagar Police. Your names are written in a Red Diary. After coming to power within 100 days, we will strip off each and every one of you," he purportedly said in a video, as reported by news agency PTI.

On Wednesday, BRS spokesperson Sravan Dasoju criticised Reddy’s statements terming them as "anti-democratic, anti-constitutional, and also completely uncivilised, barbarian kind of remarks", PTI reported.

"We strongly condemn, and the Congress party has to tender an apology to the Telangana Police Force for these kinds of derogatory and intimidating remarks. The problem is not with Revanth Reddy, if you look deeply at it ...the problem is with Rahul Gandhi ji, and the problem is with the Congress high command who are sitting in Delhi," he added.

Cases under IPC Sections 153 (giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and other sections were registered against the Telangana Congress leader and others, a senior police official told PTI.
