Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday expressed grief over the demise of Hiraben Modi, mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Hiraben passed away at the age of 100 at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday morning.
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan tweeted, "Hon'ble Shri. @narendramodi ji's mother Smt #HeerabenModi reached lotus feet of God. Nation stands to share your loss & grief as our own families. We stand to pray for the departed soul while appealing God to give strength to bear the loss & continue tireless service to Nation."
Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao in a statement expressed condolences on the demise of Hiraben.
"CM KCR conveyed his deep sympathies to the Prime Minister and his family members," a statement from Rao's office said.
Union minister for tourism and culture G Kishan Reddy in a tweet expressed his condolences.
"I express my deepest & heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Smt Heeraben Modi Ji, Mother of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @NarendraModi Ji. Smt Heeraben Ji led a life which was guided by values, virtue & simplicity which blessed this nation with a great leader in Modi Ji," Reddy tweeted.
