Hyderabad: The state Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, on Thursday sanctioned 10 lakh new Aasara (social security) pensions in Telangana, which will be effective from August 15 . The Cabinet has also cleared the model Aasara pension cards to be issued to all beneficiaries.
The scheme currently provides monthly pensions to 36 lakh people in the state, including the elderly, single women and "beedi" labourers.
During the meeting, the Cabinet also approved the release of up to 75 prisoners on August 15 on the occasion of the country completing 75 years of independence. Children who are orphaned have been designated as state children, and the government will support them not only in their educational requirements but will also provide them with reservations in employment.

The appointment of specialised physicians at the publicly funded Koti ENT facility has received approval from the Cabinet Committee. Additionally, it was decided to add modern amenities to the health centre. It was also suggested in the meeting to build a new facility and modernise the hospital infrastructure of Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital.
The Cabinet also approved the allocation of 15 acres of land for the construction of Autonagar in Vikarabad. The Thandur market committee at Yalala received an additional 30 acres. Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation received around 45 acres in Shabad to construct Shabad stone polishing facilities.
It has been decided to form a committee of authorities to deal with matters relating to building new residences under Grama Kanthams. Within 15 days of its formation, the group will be required to deliver a report outlining a permanent solution.
